Hardener

A hardener can be a component included in certain types of mixtures. The properties of a hardener can be different, either by increasing the resistance of the mixture once it sets. Or simply a hardener is used as a hardening component which ensures that the product dries up after application. Use with our mixing cups and measuring stick for correct mixing ratio.

How much hardener is needed in paint?

The amount of hardener needed in paint varies depending on the specific product and manufacturer. In general, the recommended amount is indicated on the product label or in the technical data sheet. It is important to follow these instructions carefully, as using too much or too little hardener can affect the performance and durability of the paint.

The mixing ratio is important

Typically, the required amount of hardener is expressed as a percentage of the total volume of paint and can vary from 2% to 10% or more, depending on the product. Some manufacturers may also provide a ratio of hardener to paint, such as 2:1, meaning 2 parts paint to 1 part hardener. To ensure the best results, it is important to follow the manufacturer's instructions and measure the hardener accurately. When you have to work/spray with industrial or car paint, you can use our mixing cups which have a pressure scale on the side, so you can easily mix paint, hardener, and thinner in exactly the right proportions.

Too much or too little hardener gives poor results

Using too much hardener can result in an ugly surface when the product has hardened, it will often tend to crack. Conversely, using too little may not provide the desired level of hardness and durability.
