Teknopox Primer 9-00 7185

Teknopox Primer 9-00 is a 2k epoxy primer with good flowability. Used as an anti-corrosion primer on sandblasted steel surfaces as well as on galvanized and aluminum surfaces where good resistance to wear, water, oil and chemicals is required.

The primer dries quickly, has good application properties and good fluidity. Hardens even at a temperature of 0 °C.

Hardener (comp. B): TEKNOPOX HARDENER 7219 1 volume part

Pot life at +23 °С (Potlife) 3 hours

Thinner, cleaning TEKNOSOLV 9506. Gloss Semi-matt.

Pretreatment

The surfaces are cleaned of impurities that can be harmful to the surface treatment and the paint. In addition, water-soluble salts are removed by suitable methods. The surfaces of the various materials are pre-treated as follows:

STEEL SURFACES: Remove scale and rust by sandblasting to degree of cleanliness SA 2½ (standard ISO 8501-1). If the surface is roughened on thin sheets, the adhesion of the paint to the surface is improved.

ZINC SURFACES: Hot-dip galvanized steel structures that are exposed to the weather can be painted if the surface is sandblasted (SaS) so that the entire surface becomes matt. Suitable blowing agents are e.g. aluminum oxide and natural sand. According to SO 12944-5, the paint is not recommended for hot-dip galvanized structures which are immersed in water. Painting of hot-dip galvanized constructions which must be immersed in water must be agreed separately with Teknos. Sandblasting (SaS) is recommended for new galvanized thin sheet constructions. Matt weathered surfaces can be treated with RENSA STEEL cleaning agent for galvanized surfaces.

ALUMINUM SURFACES: The surface is treated with RENSA STEEL cleaning agent for galvanized surfaces. Surfaces exposed to the weather are roughened with sandblasting (AISaS) or sanding.

OLD PAINTED SURFACES SUITABLE FOR OVERCOATING: Impurities that can be harmful to the application of the paint (eg grease and salts) are removed. The surfaces must be dry and clean. Old, painted surfaces that have exceeded the maximum paintability must be roughened. Pre-treatment of damaged parts is carried out according to the requirements for surface and maintenance painting.

Choose the place and time for the treatment, taking into account that the pre-treated surface does not become dirty or damp before the subsequent treatment.
