Pre-treatment of the surface: The pre-treatment is removed from the surfaces to be treated and those that hinder the application, impurities and water-soluble salts are removed by means of dirt and grease removal methods. Surfaces are pre-treated according to the material as follows:

STEEL SURFACES: Roll rust and rust are removed by blast cleaning to rust removal degree Sa 2½ (SFS-ISO 8501-1). Thin plate surface roughening improves the adhesion of the paint to the substrate.

ZINC SURFACES: Hot-dip galvanized steel constructions for climate loading can be painted if the surfaces are swept-blasted (SaS), so that the surface has been modified throughout to become matte. Suitable cleaning agents are, for example, aluminum oxide and natural sand. The standard in accordance with ISO 12944-5, hot-dip galvanized steel painting of the objects is not recommended. Galvanized exposed to immersion load the paint of the objects must be discussed separately with Teknos. The new galvanized thin sheet structures are recommended for processing with sweep jet cleaning (SaS). Matt air-conditioned metal sheet surfaces can also be treated with RENSA STEEL sheet wash.

ALUMINUM SURFACES: The surfaces are treated with RENSA STEEL plate wash. Surfaces exposed to weathering are further roughened with sweeping blast cleaning (AlSaS) or sanding.

OLD PAINT SURFACES SUITABLE FOR OVERPAINTING: Impeding paint impurities (e.g. grease and salts) are removed. The surfaces must be dry and clean. Old, painted surfaces that have exceeded the maximum repainting time come across as rough. Damaged areas are pre-treated on the base and in accordance with the requirements for maintenance painting. Surface painted with TEKNOZINC 90 SE: Clean the surface before further painting. Machine shop primer: If necessary, KORRO E epoxy workshop primer, KORRO SE zinc epoxy workshop primer and KORRO SS zinc silicate workshop primer are suitable.
