Paint Stripper Metstrip EF3461 Paint Remover

A highly effective paint remover. Paint Stripper is used to remove old paint layers and varnishes. Suitable for use on aluminium, steel, and zinc.

Metstrip EF3461 is a warm immersion agent for removing paint. It has been developed as a safer alternative to methylene chloride.

Traditionally, methylene chloride has been known for its effectiveness as a paint stripper, but it also has several disadvantages, including a workplace exposure limit (WEL) of 100 ppm (long-term) and 300 ppm (short-term) as well as a low boiling point of only 40°C, making it easy to reach harmful concentration levels.

Metstrip EF3461, on the other hand, has a much higher boiling point of 206°C, which means that evaporation is significantly slower – even when used warm at 50°C.

This product is particularly effective for removing polyester lacquer from both steel and aluminium. When used warm at 50°C, it can typically remove polyester lacquer in under 10 minutes (depending on layer thickness and any stirring). Metstrip EF3461 can also be used at room temperature, but the stripping time will be longer.

Metstrip EF3461 is an alkaline activated solvent blend, but despite its alkaline properties, the attack on aluminium is minimal, as the solution is anhydrous.
