Teknocryl Aqua 2780

Teknocryl Aqua 2780 is an air-drying, thixotropic water-dilutable primer. Used to protect steel against corrosion. Can be used as a single-layer coating, i.e. primer and topcoat in one product. Application method HVLP spraying.

Provides good adhesion and effective protection against corrosion of steel. Also provides good adhesion on: Aluminium, zinc, silumin, copper, brass and some types of plastic, such as e.g. acrylic, PVC, polystyrene, polycarbonate, ABS and SMC.

Is produced with a thixotropy, which results in great "running safety" when applied. Is produced without the use of chromate-containing anti-corrosion pigments.

Recommended substrate Aluminium, Zinc, Plastic, Steel

Pretreatment The surfaces are cleaned of impurities that may be harmful for pretreatment and application. In addition, water-soluble salts are removed by suitable methods. The surfaces of the various materials are pre-treated as follows:

COLD-ROLLED STEEL: Cleaned with a suitable pre-treatment chemical.

HOT ROLLED STEEL: Blast cleaned or sandblasted to degree of cleaning SA 2½ according to the standard ISO 8501-1:1988.

ALUMINUM: Suitable chemical pretreatment.

ELECTRIC GALVANIZED STEEL: Suitable chemical pretreatment.

HOT-DIP GALVANIZED STEEL: Hot-dip galvanized steel structures that are exposed to the weather can be painted if the surface is sandblasted (SaS), so that the entire surface becomes matt. Suitable blowing agents are e.g. aluminum oxide and natural sand. The paint is not recommended for galvanized structures that must be immersed in water or soil.

Application conditions The surface to be treated must be dry. During application and drying, the temperature of the air, the surface and the product must be above +15 °C and the relative humidity below 70%. Adhesion to the plastic type must be tested before actual production, as there can be large variations depending on the plastic quality.
