Teknodur Combi 3560

About the product

TEKNODUR COMBI 3560-78 is a 2-component polyurethane paint with high solids content, where the hardener used is an aliphatic isocyanate resin. Used in weather-resistant polyurethane systems. Since the paint is anticorrosively pigmented, it is suitable as a 1-coat paint on metal surfaces.

The paint surface has good mechanical properties and good weather resistance. Since the paint is fast-drying, it is suitable for use in a two-component paint line where high productivity is required.

Mixing ratio 3:1 part by volume

Base (comp. A) + Hardener (comp. B): TEKNODUR HARDENER 7227

Pot life at +23 °С (Potlife) 15 minutes.

Thinner Standard thinner TEKNOSOLV 9526.

Pre-treatment

The surfaces are cleaned of impurities that may be harmful to the surface treatment and the paint. In addition, water-soluble salts are removed by appropriate methods. The surfaces of the various materials are pre-treated as follows: STEEL SURFACES: Remove scale and rust by sandblasting to a cleanliness level of SA 2½ (standard ISO 8501-1). The profile of the sandblasted surface must be rough. (reference comparator “G”) ISO 8503-2 (G). Sheet metal surfaces can be pre-treated by phosphating.

OLD PAINTED SURFACES SUITABLE FOR OVERCOATING: Remove impurities that may be detrimental to the application of the paint (e.g. grease and salts). The surfaces must be dry and clean. Old painted surfaces that have exceeded the maximum repaintability must be roughened. Pre-treatment of damaged parts is carried out in accordance with the requirements for surface and maintenance painting.

GALVANIZED SURFACES: Hot-dip galvanized steel structures exposed to the weather can be painted if the surface is sandblasted (SaS) so that the entire surface becomes matt. Suitable blasting agents are, for example, aluminium oxide and natural sand. Painting is not recommended for galvanized structures that are to be immersed in water or soil.

ALUMINUM SURFACES: Treat the surfaces with a suitable cleaning agent or TEKNOCLEAN 1950-02. Surfaces exposed to the weather are roughened by sandblasting (AISaS) or grinding. Choose the place and time for the treatment taking into account that the pre-treated surface does not become dirty or damp before the subsequent treatment.

Mixing of components Take into account the potlife of the mixture when calculating the amount to be mixed at one time. Before starting to paint, mix the base and hardener in the correct ratio. Stir carefully to the bottom of the container. Insufficient stirring or incorrect mixing ratio will result in inadequate curing and poorer film properties.

Application Suitable primers: TEKNOPLAST PRIMER 5, TEKNODUR PRIMER 3411, TEKNOCRYL AQUA PRIMER 2788, TEKNOCRYL AQUA COMBI 2780, TEKNOZINC 80 SE and TEKNOZINC 90 SE. Stir the paint thoroughly before use. If necessary, the paint can be thinned with TEKNOSOLV 9526 or fast thinner TEKNOSOLV 1129. Do not use ordinary thinners, as they may contain alcohol, which will react with the hardener. Apply with conventional or airless spraying. Use nozzle size 0.013-0.017”. Before use, clean the spray gun and container with the paint's own thinner. For application, it is recommended to use 2-component spray equipment.

Application conditions The surface to be painted must be dry and the relative humidity below 80%. During application and curing, the air and surface temperature must be above -5 °C, and the paint temperature must be above +15 °C during mixing and application. The surface temperature and the paint must be at least +3 °C above the dew point of the air. The hardener and the finished paint mixture contain isocyanates. In poorly ventilated rooms and especially when spraying, the use of a fresh air mask is recommended. For short or temporary work, a mask with an A2-P2 filter can be used. In this case, eyes and face must be protected

OTHER INFORMATION The hardener reacts with humidity. Store in a cool, dry place indoors in tightly closed packaging. Storage stability is limited. An opened hardener should be used within two weeks. Other instructions regarding surface preparation can be found in the standards EN ISO 12944-4 and ISO 8501-2.
