Teknodur 3740-05 Gl 50 Base
About the product
Note that these are bases and must be tinted with Tonesystem Teknotint.
TEKNODUR 3740-05 two-component reaction-drying polyurethane. Used as a topcoat in polyurethane surface systems on steel and metal. Provides a semi-glossy, impact-resistant and elastic surface that is resistant to weak acids and bases.
The product has good weather resistance which can be further improved by coating with TEKNODUR 3740-29.
Gloss (60°) Semi-gloss
Hardener Comp. B: TEKNODUR HARDENER 0100-01
Mixing ratio (A:B) 4:1 by volume
Recommended substrate Metal, Steel
Pretreatment The surfaces are cleaned of impurities that may be harmful for pretreatment and application. In addition, water-soluble salts are removed by suitable methods. The surfaces of the various materials are pre-treated as follows:
OLD PAINTED SURFACES SUITABLE FOR OVERCOATING: Impurities that can be harmful to the application of the paint (e.g. grease and salts) are removed. The surfaces must be dry and clean. Pre-treatment of damaged parts is carried out according to the requirements for surface and maintenance painting. Choose the place and time for the treatment, taking into account that the pre-treated surface does not become dirty or damp before the subsequent treatment.
Other instructions regarding pre-treatment of the surface can be found in the standards EN ISO 12944-4 and ISO 8501-2.
Priming, priming
METAL: INERTA PRIMER 3210, TEKNODUR PRIMER 3420, TEKNODUR PRIMER HB 3450
PLASTIC: TEKNODUR FILLER 3310, TEKNODUR PRIMER 3420
Application method Airless spraying, Air-assisted airless spraying, Conventional spraying
Application MIXING OF COMPONENTS: To achieve a satisfactory result, it is important that the hardener is incorporated correctly. An increase in viscosity occurs in the first 15 minutes after the addition hardens. The final setting of the spray viscosity must then be made. It is recommended that approx. 30 vol.% thinner: See chart in technical data sheet.
Application conditions The surface to be treated must be dry. During application and drying, the temperature of the air, the surface and the product must be above +10 °C and the relative humidity below 80
The hardener should be opened with care, as overpressure may occur during storage
