Teknolac Primer Hb 2043
About the product
TEKNOLAC Primer HB 2043-01 is an air-drying thixotropic alkyd primer specially designed for steel. It ensures excellent adhesion and, together with a suitable topcoat, provides effective protection against corrosion.
The thixotropic property of TEKNOLAC Primer HB 2043-01 ensures that it is easy to apply on vertical surfaces without running.
TEKNOLAC Primer HB 2043-01 contains approx. 50 volume-% dry matter and has a total dry matter mass of approx. 1240 g/l.
The gloss level of TEKNOLAC Primer HB 2043-01 is matt.
For dilution, TEKNOSOLV 6120-00 or TEKNOSOLV 6670-00 are recommended.
For optimal durability and performance, it is recommended to store the product at temperatures between +5 °C and +25 °C. Storage should take place in tightly sealed packaging to preserve the quality of the product.
Pre-treatment of surfaces is an important part of the process to ensure optimal adhesion and long-term durability. The surfaces must be cleaned of impurities that could potentially impair pretreatment and the application of the product. In addition, water-soluble salts should be removed by appropriate methods. Different materials require different pretreatment steps:
1. **Cold rolled surfaces:** These surfaces are treated with a suitable cleaning agent to ensure they are free of dirt and grease.
2. **Hot-rolled surfaces:** These surfaces must be sandblasted to a degree of cleanliness of SA 2½ according to the ISO 8501-1 standard.
Any shop primers should also be considered:
- The shop primer KORRO PVB 3040 or KORRO AQUA 2740 is recommended.
- Other types of shop primers should be removed either by sling cleaning or sandblasting, depending on their nature.
The application can be carried out by the following methods:
- Conventional spraying
- Airless spraying
