Neon Fluorescent Paint

About the product

Mipa neon is a special fluorescent effect color used in a 2-layer system with 2K clear coat for UV protection. For correct color and brightness is only achieved when using white 2K acrylic primer or filler under mipa neon.

To prevent premature fading, it is absolutely necessary to apply a film thickness of at least 100 µm of the base color.

Please note that according to traffic regulations, fluorescent colors on vehicles may be subject to approval.

As mentioned, the full brightness is only achieved when using white acrylic primers or fillers. Finishing with a 2K HS clear coat is essential for UV protection.

Thinner:

50% Mipa 2K-Verdünnung kurz V 10 or Mipa Verdünnung BC

Procedure:

To prevent premature fading, it is generally necessary to apply at least four layers of Mipa Neon (RAL 3024: 5 layers)

To increase resistance, Mipa Neon should be applied with Mipa 2K-Härter H 10 or
MS 10 in a mixing ratio of 10 : 1 by weight or volume.

Adjust the spray viscosity of this mixture by adding Mipa BC-Verdünnung or Mipa 2KVerdünnung kurz V 10 in a mixing ratio of 2 : 1 by weight or volume.

When mixing with Mipa 2K-Härtern, you must observe a pot life of approx. 1-2 days.

Note Mipa Neon is not suitable for filling into spray cans.

Recommended coating structure:

Substrate preparation:

The substrate must be clean, dry and free of grease. Remove old paint and primer that has not hardened or cannot be painted over.

Steel substrates: Pre-clean with Silikonentferner, then sand with grain P 120 and subsequently degrease with Silikonentferner.

Aluminium substrates: Pre-clean with Silikonentferner, then sand with grain P 220 and subsequently degrease with Silikonentferner.

Galvanized substrates (galvanized substrates (batch galvanization/discontinuous hot-dip galvanization): clean the surface with the ammonia solution Mipa Zinkreiniger

Galvanized substrates (strip galvanization/continuous hot-dip galvanization) and
electrogalvanization: Pre-clean with Mipa Silikonentferner, then sand with P 220
and subsequently degrease with Mipa Silikonentferner.

Solid, intact old paint, factory paint, etc.:

Clean thoroughly (preferably with a steam jet), degrease and sand by hand or machine with sandpaper P 360/400. Final cleaning with Mipa Silicone Remover or Mipa WBS Cleaner. Note: Mipa Epoxy primers are recommended as insulating primers for thermoplastics or non-2K-resistant old coatings.

Priming of shiny metal surfaces:

When used on bare metal surfaces, first prime with Mipa adhesion promoters (e.g. Mipa Rapidprimer, Mipa Aktivprimer) or Mipa EP-Grundierfiller.

Smaller steel and iron surfaces up to the size of a palm can be coated directly with Mipa 4+1 Acrylfiller HS or Mipa 2K-HS-Grundfiller F 54 white.

Filler:

The surface to be painted must be painted evenly and white with Mipa 4+1 Acrylfüller HS white or 2K-HS-Grundfiller F 54 white. After drying, dry sand with P 600 - 800 or wet sand with P 800 / 1000, but do not sand through, as a uniform white filler layer is required!

Otherwise, non-white sanded areas will be clearly visible after overpainting
with Mipa Neon, as neon colors do not have full hiding power due to the nature of the
system.

If there are sanded areas, they must be overpainted with Mipa 4+1 Acrylfüller
HS white or 2K-HS-Grundfiller F 54 white and sanded.

Mipa Neon:

Apply Mipa Neon with at least 4 spray coats. In the case of RAL 3024, 5 coats
are required.

To increase the resistance, Mipa Neon should be applied with Mipa 2K-Härter H 10 or MS 10 in a mixing ratio of 10 : 1 by weight or volume.

Adjust the spray viscosity of this mixture by adding Mipa BC-Verdünnung or Mipa 2K-Verdünnung kurz V 10 in a mixing ratio by weight or volume of 2:1.

When mixing with Mipa 2K-Härtern, observe a pot life of approx. 1 – 2 days.

Clearcoat:

Apply 2K-HS clearcoat according to the technical data sheet
