Why use a primer?
Primers are primarily used as a bonding agent that bonds the surface under the paint you spray on top of, and is especially important on surfaces that are absorbent or slippery. The primer ensures that the substrate has optimal conditions to strengthen the adhesion of the paint itself.

Some are primarily useful for repairing minor scratches and damage to the paintwork, while others are intended to improve rust protection.

Which type of primer should I choose?
When choosing a primer, you must take as a starting point what you are going to paint. If you are, for example, right down to the iron, we often recommend an epoxy primer, which is the type of primer that provides the best rust protection. Whether you should choose 1K or 2K again depends on how well you want to protect or how large the surface is. A 2K primer provides far more protection than a 1K primer. eg. so 1K epoxy primer/primer contains only 5% epoxy compared to 2K primer containing 99% epoxy.

IMPORTANT TO KNOW WHEN USING PRIMERS
When you need to use primer, follow the safety measures that can be read in the data sheet. You should be aware that safety is in order during application and subsequent treatment of the surface. Primers often contain harmful substances, and it is therefore recommended that when using primer, it should be done in a room with good ventilation. We always recommend wearing protective equipment. eg. safety glasses, respirator and gloves when mixing and applying primer. In addition, you should also be aware that certain primers can only be used in combination with a specific varnish or brand. You should also pay attention to making the correct build-up, as the choice of color on the primer can have a great impact on the appearance of the car, even if it is subsequently sprayed with the correct base colour.
