About the product
2-component high-strength bodywork adhesive
SikaPower®-4720 is a 2-component high-strength epoxy adhesive, with excellent adhesive properties on a wide range of substrates. It has been specially developed for bonding metal and composite body parts.
The glass balls in the glue ensure an even and optimal glue string with a thickness of 0.25 mm. The glue hardens at room temperature and the glue joint is rigid after curing.
SikaPower®-4720 is used for body bonding of areas with high dynamic impact, such as door panels, rear ends, roof panels and fenders.
Only used for structural parts in combination with spot welding or riveting - and according to the manufacturer's instructions. Common substrates are metals, especially aluminum (incl. anodized and rolled), cold-rolled steel as well as composite substrates. Metal sheets assembled with SikaPower®-4720 (uncured) can be spot welded.

The product should only be used by professional, experienced users. Testing with actual substrates and conditions must be performed to ensure adhesion and material compatibility.
Preparation of the surface
Grind the metal surfaces to clean metal, clean and degrease with Acetone or Heptane. Further preparation of the surface depends on the specific substrates and the production process.
Application
SikaPower®-4720 is applied from a double cartridge with a suitable high-performance caulking gun. To achieve proper mixing, a quadro MGQ 10-19D mixer is required. At low temperatures (10°C), the cartridge must be heated before application in order to increase the extraction speed.
First squeeze out the glue without the mixer to ensure equal levels of the components, fit the mixer and squeeze again. Discard the first few centimeters of glue string.
For corrosion protection, the glue is applied and processed in a thin layer on both surfaces to be glued. Check that all sanded surfaces are covered. Apply a bead of glue on one side 5mm from the edge to reduce extruded glue (except at the spot weld).
Fit the spare part and first add clamps in the corners. Fix it with rivets or spot welding if necessary, or place clamps every 10 cm. If you only apply glue on one side, the open time is reduced, the final strength is reduced by up to 50% and the corrosion protection ability becomes insufficient.

SikaPower®-4720 can be applied at temperatures between 10 °C and 30 °C. The substrate and other equipment must be kept at the same temperature level.
Hardening
SikaPower®-4720 hardens depending on the environment. The curing speed depends on the temperature. 10°C higher temperature will result in approx. doubling the curing speed and reducing the open time by 50%. The curing speed can be accelerated by increasing the temperature (max. 85°C) using infrared lamps or ovens.
Cleaning
Uncured SikaPower®-4720 can be removed from tools and equipment with Sika®Remover-208 or other suitable solvents. Hardened product can only be removed mechanically. Hands and exposed skin areas are cleaned immediately with Sika® Cleaner-350H or a suitable industrial hand cleaner and water.
Do not use solvents on the skin.
Paintability
Can be painted over. Sanding before painting is recommended as well as small testing before painting a large panel or roof.
STORAGE CONDITIONS
Frost sensitive. Storage below + 15 °C may cause the product to form lumps. Best storage conditions + 15 °C to + 25 °C.
