Primers
Primer promotes the adhesion of subsequent coatings, often through an acid component that corrodes the substrate. Primers also protect steel substrates from corrosion. We offer several different types suitable for surfaces such as metal, plastic, wood, and glass.

why use primers?
Primers are primarily used as bonding agents that connect the surface under the paint applied on top. They are especially important on absorbent or slippery surfaces. The primer ensures that the substrate has optimal conditions to strengthen the adhesion of the paint itself.
Some primers are mainly useful for repairing minor scratches and damage to the paintwork, while others are designed to improve rust protection.
choosing the right primer and safety considerations
When selecting a primer, consider the surface you are painting. For example, if you are painting directly on iron, an epoxy primer is often recommended as it provides the best rust protection. The choice between 1K and 2K primers depends on the level of protection desired and the size of the surface. A 2K primer offers significantly more protection than a 1K primer; for instance, a 1K epoxy primer contains only 5% epoxy compared to 99% in a 2K primer.
It is important to follow safety measures when using primers, as detailed in the product data sheet. Primers often contain harmful substances, so application should be done in a well-ventilated area. Protective equipment such as safety glasses, respirators, and gloves is recommended when mixing and applying primer. Additionally, some primers must be used in combination with specific varnishes or brands. Proper layering is essential, as the primer color can greatly affect the final appearance even when covered with the correct base color.
