Teknozinc 90 3235-00 Ts0517

About the product

Teknozinc 90 is a solvent-based 2K zinc powder pigmented epoxy paint. Used as a primer in polyurethane, chlorinated rubber and epoxy systems. Applied by brush or airless spraying

Effectively protects steel against corrosion underrun and is weather resistant even without a topcoat. The paint meets the requirements of both the EN-ISO 12944-5 standard and the Swedish "Boverket's Handbook on Steel Structures" (BSK07). The zinc content in the paint is at least 90% by weight in the dry paint film. The paint meets the requirements of the Swedish standard SSG 1022-GB.

Certificates, approvals and classifications EN ISO 12944-5, Boverket's Handbook on Steel Structures (BSK07), SSG 1026-TA

Recommended substrate Steel

Practical coverage Depends on application technique, surface conditions, overspray, etc.

Colors Blue-grey.

Gloss (60°) Matt

Hardener TEKNOZINC SE WINTER HARDENER must be used when painting at temperatures below +10 °C.

Comp. B: TEKNOZINC 50 SE / 80 SE / 90 SE HARDENER or TEKNOZINC HARDENER 7260-00

Mixing ratio (A:B) 5:1 parts by volume

Pot life, 23 °C 16h

Thinner TEKNOSOLV 9506

Pretreatment The surfaces are cleaned of impurities that may be harmful to the pretreatment and application. In addition, water-soluble salts are removed by appropriate methods. The surfaces of the various materials are pretreated as follows:

STEEL SURFACES: Remove scale and rust by sandblasting to a cleanliness level of SA 2½ (standard ISO 8501-1).

OLD PAINTED SURFACES SUITABLE FOR OVERCOATING: Remove impurities that may be detrimental to the application of the paint (e.g. grease and salts). The surfaces must be dry and clean. Old painted surfaces that have exceeded the maximum overcoatability must be roughened. Pre-treatment of damaged parts is carried out in accordance with the requirements for surface and maintenance paints.

Choose the place and time of treatment taking into account that the pre-treated surface does not become dirty or damp before the subsequent treatment.

Further instructions regarding surface pre-treatment can be found in the standards EN ISO 12944-4 and ISO 8501-2.

Shop primer: KORRO SE zinc epoxy and KORRO SS zinc silicate shop primers can be used as required.

Application method Airless spraying, Brush

Suitable airless nozzle str. (rotary nozzle) 0.018 - 0.021".

Application MIXING COMPONENTS: Take into account the potlife of the mixture when calculating the amount to be mixed at one time. Before application, mix base and hardener in the correct ratio. Stir thoroughly to the bottom of the container. Insufficient stirring or incorrect mixing ratio will result in poor curing and poor film properties. To prevent the zinc powder from settling, the paint should be stirred approximately every half hour during use.

Application conditions The surface to be treated must be dry, clean and free of dust. During application and drying, the temperature of the air, surface and product must be above +10 °C and the relative humidity below 80%. In addition, the temperature of the surface to be treated and the product must be at least +3 °C above the dew point of the air.

When using TEKNOZINC SE WINTER HARDENER, the temperature of the air and surface must be above -5 °C. During mixing and application, the paint temperature must be above +15 °C. The surface to be painted must be ice-free.

Drying time +23 °C / 50 % RH (dry film 40 µm)

- dust dry 5 minutes (ISO 9117-5:2012)

- tack-free 30 minutes (ISO 9117-5:2012)

- dry 7 days

Can be overpainted, see technical data sheet for schedule.
