Which SATA X 5500 is right for me?

The new SATAjet X 5500 spray gun

With the goal of offering the most innovative spray guns on the market, regardless of type or task, the German spray gun manufacturer SATA has launched the SATAjet X 5500 spray gun with a new nozzle system based on two different spray fans. SATAjet X 5500 I-nozzle (Parallel) and SATAjet X 5500 O-nozzle (oval shaped).

The larger nozzle selection offers more options and ensures that it will be much faster and easier to achieve the desired finish. The new SATAjet X 5500 achieves this flexibility through its revolutionary X-nozzle system and optimized air distribution. It is now easier to select the most suitable nozzle set for the paint system, application type and climatic conditions of each project.

SATAjet X 5500 is available with or without an integrated pressure gauge. If you choose a non-digital version, an Adam 2 digital manometer can be purchased in addition. 

What makes the X-nozzle system different?

"O" nozzles have an oval spray fan pattern with a larger dry zone and a wet core, allowing faster application, but with slightly less application control during the painting process. The film-build per layer is also slightly higher in comparison to the film-build for an "I" nozzle of the same size.

"I" nozzles, on the other hand, have a parallel spray fan pattern with a smaller dry zone and core; this is ideal for painters who prefer a reduced application speed and maximized application control during the painting process. The film-build per layer will be slightly reduced compared to the fil-build for an "O" nozzle.

Paint manufacturers regularly launch new paint materials that require certain conditions and have special requirements for application and spraying. This calls for a more flexible spray gun with more adaptable settings. What are the benefits of the X-nozzle system?

Depending on the properties of the paint system, climatic conditions and application technique, every painter can now choose a spray gun with the appropriate nozzle set for their individual needs. Thanks to the new design of the fluid tip and air cap, the air distribution insert is no longer required.. SATA has reduced the application noise level of the whispering nozzle, giving painters the feeling of a softer and more comfortable spraying process.
